Hi,

I hope that you understand English.

I'm from Estonia and I'm coming to Paris next week and would like to buy a mk1 Mazda MX-5. Right now I have not found any from France, so I am considering driving to Germany or Holland to buy one.

I hope that maybe here I can find something.

What I am looking for:
1-st generation MX-5
Engine: Preffered 1.6 85kw or 1.8 96kw but you can also offer 66kW
Interiour: Leather preffered but you can also offer cloth
Should be technically in good condition because I would like to drive it back to Estonia, so there is about 3000km trip ahead of me.
Price up to 2000€

Please make offers with pictures, price and description of techical and optical condition.

Hi Kuldara,

Unofrtunately, reporting your request, finding some Mk1 in this conditions in this price will be some hard work. 2000 € is price for RHD in average condition.

In my opinion, you got only Germany and NL left like reasonnables choices, and reporting period prices are high and choice milited, even there.

Thank you for your answer!

I am not looking for a perfect example. Just has to be in good technical condition, so it would last the ride.

yes, but for this price, excepting buying some very tired model, for this price you not find especially that Mx5 french market is very high. Mx5s are much more expansive than rest of Europe. Up to you :)

Thank you for explaining :)

I have looked at French market and it is high, that is why I am also looking from Germany or Holland. I just had an idea this morning that maybe somebody from enthusiasts forums is selling his/her car within my price range.
That would save me cost of travelling from Paris(I have already bought plane tickets) to other countries.

As they say in Estonia: "You can always ask" :)

Problem is that finding some good car for this price, it will be short some high kilometer model. Dont forget that Estonia is quite far away. I drove car very often between France and easterns of Poland, and you need some good car. And for you its only some step before Estonia with 1000 kms more. and your budget is reached, you cannot extend it ?

good luck :jap: You will tell us

Thank you all for the advice!

I am looking for a good deal, that would drive me home, but later I can do some work on it. For example good technical condition but needs some rust removal, smaller bodywork or better interior etc. That is why I do not want to expand my budget.

And it seems that Holland or Germany is the way to go this time.

I will continue my search and when I have bought the car, I will let you guys know what I got.

Hi,

Thank you everybody for help!

Here's how my trip went. It was actually our wedding trip

We flew to Paris, enjoyed it few days, then took a rental car, drove to Frankfurt to buy a mk1 MX-5 but it had no TÜV(I hoped to get it next day) but when we arrived, the battery was emty and finally the key broke, so we took the signs and left it there, allthough it was nice, black, beige leather intreiour, had AC and cruise control, so exactly what I would have wanted. Anyway, next morning we started browsing our other options. Unfortunately all my backup options near there were also sold, so we started exploring other options. Went even to see one 306 Cabrio, which was rubbish and lucky that I did not buy that. Anyway after that at about 3 o clock we found one mk2 1.6 MX-5 advert and went to see it. It had been sitting some time in workshop corner, so it was very dirty but it was technically sound and had TÜV, so we took it and got it ready with export plates 5min before the registration center closed. After that, we cave it a good clean and started our roadtrip.

Our trip went Frankfurt-Reims-Paris-Orleans-Bordeaux(stayed there 3 days and visited Cognac and Arcachon)-Albi-Provance(vistied Verdon)-Cassis-Nice-Cannes-Monaco-Genova-Milan. From there my brother started driving back home since we needed to get back to work. We took the small roads, not highways and enjoyed the cabrio weather. Car was actually a lot better than expected and we really enjoyed it. If before I had plans selling this after the trip then now I am starting to think that I will keep it.

Couple pictures too:
