Bonjour à tous le forum! :hello:

Désolé d'écrire en anglais, je suis de Pologne et mon français est très limité.

It's been a while since I sold my beloved Miata. It was a great car, but it lost the battle with rust quite badly. It was imported from USA somewhere between 1994 and 1998 and we've had it from 1998 until early 2017. It was repainted from British Racing Green to Sunburst Yellow while it was repaired after a major accident. This accident led to a whole lot problems with rust and we have decided that it makes no sense to rescue it - basically a whole new body was needed...

Some more photos of out Miata in the times of her glory: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/w6s0o58smreg ... yWJ-a?dl=0

I was looking for the most similar car throughout the Europe and found a nearly identical car in France. Being a British Racing Green like our car originally the only difference is 1995 instead of 1994. The rest is all the same: even the interior seems to be worn like ours was. Quite funny to see a car so similar to your previous one :)

But since the car is over 1600km from my home I need some help before I fly to France to have it bought. Do any of French MX5 riders know this car? Maybe someone was looking at this Miata? Or maybe there's someone who lives nearby and could probably check it out? I am aware that the car doesn't look great on the photos, but if the body is straight and shows no major damage I will try to buy it and then fix everything else.

I'll be thankful for any help or advice. I know how much it takes to fight rust in NA MX5, I know how hard it is to find a good one... but I'm sure I can handle that if the car is worth it.

Merci beaucoup, salutations
Dominik

Welcome on board, nice story with your sunbursted miata !!

For the linked used car, you may notice that it's not an MX-5 but a Miata...is that still ok with Polish registration ?

A quick search didn't match for a board member, for such a BRG 1.8 Miata with tan leather, but well, it can also be a member which didn't made any introducing topic ;)

how is the community and miata market in Poland ?

It is a Miata indeed. Ours was a Miata as well, it didn't make any problem though. You can register US cars here.

The community is doing great here, growing strong and big. I sold the remains of the yellow Miata without using any selling platform, the words spread so quickly that there was no need to do so. New owner shown up within two days, and after having the car towed to his place he even started thinking of having it rescued. I'm convincing him not to try as I know how bad the chassis and the rear end were. The community is actually quite similar to French, as I've wandered through the forum it seems that even the mods popular in France are popular here :) The NA is becoming more of a classic car these days slowly. I'm planning to keep our new Miata bone stock though.

I talked to some friends in France, they have talked to the dealer and it turned out that the car is still registered in Germany. This should not be a problem though, we'll find a way to bring it to Poland. The dealer also mentioned some rust, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't there. If the body needs the usual repairs around the rear fenders and the door sills then it's ok. But I hope not to find more than these.
